The first mention of the castle of vincigliata is in 1031; at that time the property was owned by the Vinsdomini and Alessandri.
For eight hundred years the castle was sold, lost at stake between the most important and famous families in Florence, until it was almost destroyed.
In 1840 its ruins captured the attention of a young English lord, John Temple Leader, who walking among the hills of Fiesole, came across this picturesque ruin and fascinated by such a wonder, decided to buy it.
Among all the stories imprisoned in those walls, he loved the legend of the white woman.
His dream became that of being able to relive the magic of the majestic castle.
